1. Why do I need to add the 'A' record when I want to add a domain?

Since SAFENTRIX is a secure system, it ensures that only genuine users can access SAFENTRIX Services.

You will be able to add the 'A' record asked for by SAFENTRIX only if you are in control of/administrator for the domain.

This means that only administrators of a domain can setup SAFENTRIX services for their domains.

This makes SAFENTRIX very secure.

2. Is it safe to add the 'A' record asked for by SAFENTRIX?

The 'A' record you need to add is generated by a random formula and depends on your account details only.

The value of the 'A' record to be set is a private IP address '192.168.1.1'. This address is not valid in the Internet for any kind of access.

This means that the added 'A' record cannot be misused and there are no security implications for your domain.

Therefore, it is absolutely safe to add the 'A' record asked for by SAFENTRIX.

3. Can I delete the 'A' record required by SAFENTRIX once I have added the domain to SAFENTRIX?

Yes. The 'A' record is checked only during the addition of domain to your account and therefore it can be deleted after you have added the domain to your SAFENTRIX account.

4. Every time I try to login to SAFENTRIX Control Panel, the following happens.

  1. I am not allowed to login.
  2. I get an email asking me to confirm login access.
  3. I login after clicking on the confirmation link.

Why is this and how can I avoid it?

This is a security feature of SAFENTRIX. SAFENTRIX maintains a list of IP addresses you log in from and checks it against all new log ins.

If the place you are logging in from is different, it disallows the login and sends an email to the account email address. In the email, there is a link to confirm your attempted login.

Once you click on the link, the new IP address is recorded and you are allowed to login from here.

This could be quite inconvenient if you have dynamic IP.

If this is the case, you can disallow this additional piece of security as follows:

  1. Login to SAFENTRIX Control panel.
  2. Goto "Account Information" page.
  3. Check "Allow Login from Any IP" option.
  4. Click "Save Preferences".

From then on, IP checking is disabled and you will be able to login from any place by default.

No.

6. Is it possible to transfer a domain from one SAFENTRIX account to another?

Yes. The process is as follows:

  1. Remove the authorization DNS 'A' record for the domain name in the old account (from where domain is being transferred out).
  2. Add the authorization DNS 'A' record for the domain name in the new account (to where the domain is being added).
  3. Login to new account and add the domain name.

When a domain is thus transferred, the following are also transferred:

  1. Delivery MX entries.
  2. List of users.

If any change needs to be done, you can do it in the new account.

11. My DNS Provider is not allowing to add an 'A' record with value '192.168.1.1', which is a private IP address. Is there any other way I can authenticate my domain for SAFENTRIX?

Adding 'A' record with private IP address is very safe and will not cause any problems. However, if your DNS Service provider is refusing the same, you can do the following:

  1. Ask your DNS Service provider to add a 'CNAME' with the sub-domain name used for authentication. The sub-domain name to be added will be available in the email sent to you and typically starts in 'sfx' and ends in the domain name you were trying to add.
  2. Value of 'CNAME' record should be 'authip.safentrix.com'.

This is equivalent to adding an 'A' record with value '192.168.1.1' and once this is done, you will be authenticate and add your domain to SAFENTRIX.
