3. I got an alert saying that one of my domain email ID has been sending SPAM and its SMTP Relay service has been temporarily suspended. What should I do?

  1. Check if the user has sent any SPAM or Unsolicited Bulk Emails (UBE) (possibly by procuring a third party mailing list). If this is the case, please warn the user and stop the sending.
  2. If user did not send SPAM or UBE, it is possible that the account is being misused. In this case, please change the SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Service password of the user.
  3. Once one of the above is done, please send an email to webmaster@safentrix.com regarding the steps taken.
  4. Upon receipt of a satisfactory response, SMTP Relay Service will be restored to the account.

4. I got an alert saying the ID mailer-daemon@<My Domain name> is sending SPAM/UBE. What is wrong?

This happens in few cases where SAFENTRIX is unable to properly identify the sender, and uses 'mailer-daemon@<Your Domain name>' as the Sender email address.

This means that the SPAM is being generated by one of the following mechanisms:

  1. Auto forward of emails from outside domains: Please check all user forwarding rules in your Email addresses and confirm that none of them are being redirected to invalid email addresses.
  2. Auto responders: If you have auto-responders in your domain, SPAMmers can misuse the facility to bounce messages to unknown users.

Please check the above and send an email to webmaster@safentrix.com to remove the block on SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Service.

5. I see an email in the Email Server queue with rejection message as

Please contact your system administrator for further help.

6. I see an email in the Email Server queue with rejection message as

You are trying to relay emails for <domain2> from mail server of <domain1>.
For this to work, you need to add and activate SAFENTRIX for <domain2>.

   What is wrong?

Following is the problem:

  1. Your Outgoing email server sends emails for 'domain1' as well as 'domain2'.
  2. As per the installation steps, all domains that your Email server is sending out emails for must be added to and activated in SAFENTRIX.
  3. In your case, you have not added/activated 'domain2' in SAFENTRIX.
  4. Therefore, when your Email server is trying to send emails for 'domain2', SAFENTRIX is rejecting it.
  5. Fix this problem by adding and activating the domain 'domain2' in SAFENTRIX and Enabling Outbound Mail Filtering for 'domain2'.
