  1. SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Servers smtp.safentrix.com supports SSL as well as TLS.
  2. Once you enable this, emails are sent out encrypted from your email client/server to SAFENTRIX Server. From then on, SAFENTRIX servers use TLS (wherever possible) to send out emails.

8. What is Archival Mode?

Organizations may want to store a copy of all user's Outgoing email for Audit and Compliance purposes.

SAFENTRIX Archival mode enables an Administrator to do this. The administrator can select specific users and set Archival mode for those users.

Then whenever these set of users send any emails through SAFENTRIX Servers, a copy (Bcc) of the email is sent to an administrator specified "Archive Email address".

This way, the organization will have copies of all Emails sent out by users through SAFENTRIX Servers.

More details on setting Archival mode can be found in SAFENTRIX Outbound Security - Operations Guide.

9. Can I let my users use their Incoming email server password as SMTP Auth password for SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Service?

Yes.

SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Service can check with a POP Server for authenticating SMTP Auth information sent by clients. Using this feature, Email administrators can direct SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Servers to check against their domain Email Servers.

Please note that for this to work, the domain's POP Servers must allow authenticating user/password details from Internet.

Details on setting this up can be found here

10. My domain's POP server requires the account name to be in a format different than the Email address. What do I do?

By default, when you set up SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Service and configure to use your POP Server for authentication, SAFENTRIX sends the POP account name as the Email address (e.g., info@safentrix.com).

If your POP Server expects the account name in a different format, you can specify the same in edit box next to "With user name sent in the format" field.

The format can be specified as a string with special strings '%u' and '%d'. Any occurrences of the above special strings is replaced by user name and domain name from the Email address.

For example, if you specify '%u' in the format, only the user name is sent to your POP Server.

To enable SAFENTRIX SMTP Relay Servers to send POP user name in the format expected by your POP Server, do the following:

  1. Generate the format string.
  2. Login to SAFENTRIX Control panel.
  3. Click on domain name.
  4. Click on "Outbound Email Security".
  5. Specify the format string in edit box next to "With user name sent in the format" field.
  6. Click on "Submit" button.

From then on, SAFENTRIX will send POP account name details in the format desired by your Incoming Email server.

11. My organization does not expose POP service to outside world due to security issues, but we would like our users to use their Incoming Mail server account details to relay emails through SAFENTRIX. Is it possible ?

Yes.

You can expose POP3 over SSL and configure SAFENTRIX to use SSL when contacting your POP server for authentication purpose.

POP over SSL should be available in port 995 for this purpose.

Since POP over SSL is fully encrypted, there should be no security issues exposing the same.
